Our time quizzing is over. Team 2 finished 6th place overall and team 1 finished in 7th. We had a good day, but God had other plans than us being in the finals. We are content with where God placed us and we had a great time at Nats 2012! We look forward to cheering tonight. Pacific Northwest 1, Canadian Midwest 2, and Western Canada will be in the final 3 at 7:30. We fly out tomorrow morning and some will be traveling home via automobile tomorrow as well. Please pray for safety and ease of travel! Thank you all for praying!
Districts Were Great! On To Internationals!
Our district competition was once again a great day. We all saw some great quizzing! The 10 individuals who made the teams to represent the Northeastern District earned their spots! With only 2 out of the top 17 senior quizzers graduating, next year looks to be equally exciting and competitive! Representing the Northeastern District this [...]
2011 Northeastern Districts Tournament
This is a photo of some of our junior quizzers competing at the 2011 Northeastern Districts Tournament. They had a lot of fun and made some new friends.
I misunderstood the report and have now confirmed. As a result of where they placed this morning, both teams were out of the top 3 places when the entered the 2 PM quiz. That quiz is also now complete and Team 1 took first while Team 2 took second, meaning they have ended up finishing in 6th and 7th overall for the 2012 International Tournament! WELL DONE NORTHEASTERN!
As a result of how well they did so far, both Northeastern teams made it into the top 9 (Championship Round) for quizzing today. Team 1 was in 3rd and Team 2 was in 7th. Unfortunately, due to where they placed in the early quizzes this morning, they had to quiz against each other at 11:45 AM their time. In that quiz, Team 1 took 3rd and Team 2 took 2nd. This means, based on their finishes for today so far, they will both have to quiz each other again at 2 PM (3 PM our time). Either team could still make it to the top three and be in the final championship quiz but that team would have to win two quizzes in a row (the 2 PM quiz and one following). Whichever team does not win, or if neither win, then they will have no chance at the top three positions and will only be in the running for positions 4-9. Please pray for both teams now that God’s will be done and that all quizzers and their coaches have fun and give God the glory no matter how things turn out.
Day 2 of quizzing has ended and both Northeastern Teams have made it to the championship round. Team 1 is in 3rd place after the prelims and Team 2 is in 7th. Everyone has answered questions and contributed to their teams. Tomorrow’s quizzing is a double elimination format. The quizzers are all excited to be doing so well and we look forward to what God has for us tomorrow! Thank you so much for your prayers, they are greatly appreciated!
Both Northeastern teams had a rough morning at day 1 of Internationals. They persevered and listened to their coaches and the afternoon was much better. Both teams are tied for 8th place after 6 quizzes, with 6 more to quiz tomorrow. Sam Benedict and Nick Murgia both quizzed out with a bonus! Thank you for your prayers for the teams, we can certainly feel them!
The Northeastern District team members that flew to Internationals (and didn’t drive out with their families) arrived in Minnesota in the early afternoon (EST) and headed to the Mall of America on the Light Rail. The plan was to spend some time there (since there is no “free day” this year) and wait to be picked up by someone coming from Crown to transport them to the college at 3 PM (or 4 PM our time). Unfortunately, due to some traveling troubles of their own, their transportation arrived at Crown College late and then got stuck in traffic on their way to pick up the team and arrived even later at the mall. After the 50 minute drive back to the college our team arrived somewhere around 8:30 PM EST after leaving Buffalo around 6 AM. Pray that the quizzers and coaches get plenty of sleep as they start their 2012 Internationals experience with 6 quizzes on Tuesday. More information on how they are doing will be posted Tuesday evening if not sooner. They are having trouble getting internet access presently.
Quiz practice is complete and the teams are getting ready to head to Crown College in Minnesota. 4 of the quizzers headed out today with their parents with the rest of us flying out of Buffalo early Monday morning. We covet your prayers for safe travel, good quizzing and most of all that our attitudes and actions will reflect Christ in all that we do and say. Check back for more updates as we are able to post!
Today at 2:00 PM the 2012 Northeastern District quizzers heading to the International tournament will arrive at the home of Claudine Campbell, Northeastern District Quizzing Coordinator, to begin their practice before heading to Crown College in Minnesota. The traditional practice schedule includes at least 100 practice quizzes, focused studying on specialties, devotions shared by the quizzers each evening, and of course lots of fun and laughs. Departure from the Campbell home will be on Sunday just before noon and they will spend Sunday night in Westfield before catching their flight out of Buffalo around 6:00 AM on Monday morning. The two teams, coaches (Carl Swan and Claudine Campbell), and some accompanying parents will be traveling together and all would appreciate your prayers as they travel, not to mention during their competition at Crown. You can stay tuned on this website for updates from Crown, which will be posted as often as possible depending on the schedule and available internet access.
